It’s amazing how much time and energy an infant can take from you – or rather, how much time and energy you give to them. Combine that with working full time, building WordPress blogs part time and all the other responsibilities that most people have, (paying bills, doing laundry, grocery shopping, trying to exercise, etc) and free-time is a phrase that seems more like a long lost memory than something that was taken for granted before.

While things are still busy, sleep has slowly returned over the last few months and things seem to have started gaining a sense of normalcy again. Hopefully this means I’ll be able to carve out some regular time to post here, complete the SAmountainBike.com site and finish transforming Beanarita.com into the the most random site on the internets. Speaking of Beanarita, you’ll notice that all the old posts from that site are now here and there is only a single page there now. Stay tuned…

The morning of her delivery was bittersweet for me and my wife.  We were excited that we were going to be able to see her, but pretty depressed that we were not going to be able to take her home for almost a month – or even hold her for longer than a few minutes after delivery.

Thankfully, Katherine arrived almost 2 lbs heavier than the doctors expected and very healthy.  She never went to the NICU and was able to come home with us after only 2 days in the hospital.

The happiest moment of my life was in the delivery room after they weighed her and announced her weight.  She’s perfect!

In the video below, he just rides a simple circular route so I could get a sample video for Beanarita.com. -Normally when I see him he’s flying down the trails, climbing over boulders and hopping over jumps. Pretty dang awesome!

But it didn’t stay that way…

I woke up early to get yard work out of the way with the intentions of getting a ride in before it got too hot. I finished the yard work, put the new tire on my bike and then it started pouring rain. Heavy rain. Luckily though, it only lasted about half an hour. So I waited a while, and five hours later I decided to go brave the mud and try to get a good workout in.

Then I learned what happens when components start filling up with mud. The mud pretty much turns into cement and locks everything together. Then, with an easy unsuspecting pedal rotation, the stressed metal breaks and forces you to walk all the way home.

In this video we’re just idling around. The important part of this video is the very beginning. Make sure to increase the bass levels on your speakers and turn your volume up loud.

In this video, the sound is only good until the boat picks up speed – then all you can hear is wind. Cool shot at the end though and the boat sounds awesome getting up to speed.
